The Maasai are among the most popular ethnic groups in Africa. They have received international recognition, over the years, because of their dress code(shuka) and distinctive customs. The Nilotic group, occupies the southern, central and northern parts of Kenya. They also occupy Northern Tanzania. During the early centuries ,they were known to be fearless hunters and warriors. The "Maa people",as they are often referred ,have over the years earned their(majority of them) livelihood as herdsmen. In Kenya, they were among those communities that didn't resist the regime of the white man.They readily accepted and collaborated with the foreigners. Even for the early explorers and visitors, who set their feet on the Maasai soil, the Maa people were so welcoming. Articles and manuscripts have been written of their hospitality.
