I got myself back home because of Covid -2019 and I had to find a way of giving back to my community. I wanted to use the camera in my hands to make a difference... That is how I ended up with my Charity photography project as a way of my resilience in my community.
This is the first and one of the many stories still in my gallery.
A mother's plea
Alex Mokua and Damacline Bochere are blessed with three sons.Thadeus, Frank and Ian are in primary level .Ian,the last born, Lives with her grandmother as a way of easing the family burden.
Alex, born in 1982,began his football career ,early in his teen age. While playing football, in one of his many matches, he broke his leg.Life was heading downward.Afterwards, while he was a way in a distant town called Migori,he was hit by a Migori police vehicle. He was again involved in another motorbike accident rendering him unstable. His both legs got badly affected and had to be taken to a special health facility. He now has metal plates placed in his leg.
He can barely walk. But still, that doesn't deter him from struggling to make ends meet for his family. As the wife gives us the story, the husband is away in some family looking after their herd of cattle so as to earn a living. She has no job.
The mom is pleading for help. There is no shamba at all.Theirs is a small hut in an unfenced compound, with no income generating activity. They survive.
As we bid the family bye, she only wishes and hopes that God will find her someone to ease their struggle. The sun is setting, we have to leave, soon the land will be covered in darkness.
But even more importantly, a call for humanity has been made.
